"Laying a Balanced Foundation in Your Child’s Life" Part 1

Welcome to SPCC Christian School! We are excited to have you join us for a “virtual coffee” time together here on our blog! This will be a space to get know us better as we share further information about who we are and what we do. It will also be a space to provide you with assorted topics on education, faith, and family that we hope will bless you. We want this “virtual coffee” time to be a special moment spent together.

As an introduction to who we are, our first blog post will be part of a series explaining what lies at the heart of our school motto: “Laying a balanced foundation in your child’s life”. Today we would like to focus on what a balanced foundation means to us and why we find it so important.

In our desire to define it, we can’t help but be reminded of this quote by Martin Luther King, Jr, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” A balanced foundation in education reaches the student’s intellect, understanding, creativity, heart, and character. It is educating the student as a whole.

What does a balanced foundation look like to us?

· It is an environment in which students are valued, respected and equipped to understand the academic principles as stated in the National Curriculum.

· A setting in which students have the freedom to think about all matters concerning God.

· It is where students are allowed to engage fully with current knowledge, research, thought and debate in every area of study.

· It is providing an expression of care to help students realize that they are unique and loved by God.

We are delighted that you are here and we hope you come back to our “virtual coffee” time with part 2 of our series, “Laying a Balanced Foundation in your Child’s Life.”

Blessings,
